The theme for my project was Meeting Places, I chose the path of the Olympic Games as people from all over the globe will be meeting in London this summer to watch the sporting events. I decided to redesign the London 2012 logo as it is unpopular with many people; I also felt it did not combine the culture of the UK or the city of London at all. My logo is in the shape of a crown which represents the British Monarchy which is very important to the culture of the Islands. It also has the year 2012 hidden within along with the five Olympic Rings, Underground logo and peace signs. The following images are example of how I applied my logo to London 2012 stamps. The backgrounds of the stamps have linear patterns to represent the running tracks and lanes competitors will race in to try to win gold. There are also five different colour combinations each using the Olympic Ring colours (expect purple which represents the monarchy); the five stamp designs represent each of the five rings.

My research project on Coca-Cola relates to my practical work as the Olympic Rings feature heavily within Coca-Cola's responses to the Olympic Games as mine do. Coca-Cola have also used the idea of creating track like designs from the Olympic colours similar to the linear pattern within my work. The colours of the Olympic Rings have been the palette used by Coca-Cola for all their Olympics advertisements as they recognise the significance and connotations people have with the colours.Coca-Cola are a great inspiration of how advertising is done well; they can reach all media outlets such as TV, cinema, billboards, posters and much, much more. I have barely scratched the surface of their immense advertising prowess.
